Gantu. Yes, Gantu. For those of you out there that were upset that Gantu wasn't in the film- well, for a hot minute he was! Here's the proof.

This was also the first scene within which the idea of portal guns were introduced. It was daunting, but a genuine pleasure to design a sequence like this. Coming up with interesting

ways that the portals could be used within an action chase sequence... it's why I love my job. This kind of scene is a feast for the imagination.

This was done fairly early in pre-production, so very little had been designed. It was a great moment to highlight some of the wonderful little things that made Hawaii

so unique ("The spam isn't slowing him down!") I based the hotel portion on a real resort in Hawaii, mostly because of the great

central fountain, and all the open space between the buildings surrounding it. It's no fun doing portals if you can't play around with verticality!

I also absolutely loved crashing Mertyl's Frozen birthday party.

I just think this scene was so funny and filled with great character beats. I honestly don't know why Gantu was cut from the movie, but I can guess the reason,

and it rhymes with schmunny.
